LAND MANAGEMENT, MONITORING, & RESTORATION INTERNSHIP

The Louis Calder Center, Fordham University’s biological field station, located in Armonk NY, is looking to hire two invasive species interns from June 3rd to July 31st. Interns will be provided a stipend of $4800 plus free on-site housing for 8 weeks. Individuals from historically underrepresented groups in STEM are strongly encouraged to apply. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Survey and report emerging invasive species using iMapinvasives
  • Conduct regular monitoring for Beech Leaf Disease (BLD) and Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) at the Calder Center 
  • Habitat and species mapping
  • Create outreach materials and participate in community events to educate the public (video, print, social media) 

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be enrolled in a college or a recent graduate
  • Enjoy working in the outdoors
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to follow written protocol and collect accurate data
  • Valid driver's license
  • Interest in Botany, Biology or Ecology
