Your Impact:
As the Fair Housing Engagement Intern, you will be working within the Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU) in the Division of Neighborhood Development and Stabilization. NPU partners with other HPD divisions, City and State agencies, local stakeholders, and community-based organizations to facilitate comprehensive, community-based planning processes and produce neighborhood housing plans and policies that strengthen
the social, economic, and physical health of neighborhoods.

NPU led the extensive community engagement process that informed Where We Live NYC, the City’s fair housing plan released in 2020. NPU is now developing an engagement plan that will culminate in an updated Where We Live NYC and will include fresh analysis of patterns of segregation and discrimination along with new commitments to address persistent housing problems in the city.

Your Role:
Under the direction of NPU’s Fair Housing Senior Planner and Fair Housing Planner, you will plan and implement key components of the Where We Live NYC engagement plan. In collaboration with external organizations, City agencies, and members of the public, you will work on community engagement initiatives designed to bring the voices of New Yorkers into the City’s fair housing planning efforts and encourage a citywide conversation on fair housing.

o promotion of the campaign, including coordinating with communications staff at HPD and NYC libraries;
