Internship Pay Rate: $17/hour

Internship Summary:

The Accounting division is responsible for applying the principles of accounting to process, analyze, and report financial transactions related to bonds, mortgages, and investments. The Accounting intern will assist in reviewing transactions and financial statements as well as gain an understanding of HDC’s business while working under the guidance of a Senior accountant. Additionally, the intern will have exposure to the Corporation’s operating budgets. 


Intern Responsibilities:

  • Review investment activity
  • Review bond activity
  • Review mortgage activity
  • Calculate monthly accruals
  • Assist in reviewing transactions to maintain the general ledger
  • Perform reconciliations of bank statements and financial accounts
  • Undertake special projects as requested

                     

                

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Pursuing a BA or BS degree in Accounting
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office 
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge of applying accounting principles
  • Coursework in Financial Accounting
