NYCEM Critical Infrastructure/Planning & Resilience Internship

Background: 

The Critical Infrastructure Unit is responsible for leading planning efforts relating to transportation, utility, and infrastructure preparedness. The unit is also responsible for ensuring that Transportation, Utility, and Infrastructure (TUI) coordinators are prepared for their roles in an emergency. To accomplish this, TUI coordinators are expected to attend briefings, trainings, and exercises.

Description/Responsibilities:

A college aide will assist the TUI working group lead in developing briefings, trainings, and exercises related to TUI roles in plans that may be activated in coastal storms and other types of emergencies. Duties may also involve supporting with development and socialization of plans/protocols, attending inter-agency meetings, and presenting unit updates to leadership. 

Requirements/Special Skills:

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Able to understand and apply basic emergency management concepts. 
  • Willing to work independently on a project by using existing material as a guide. 
  • Able to organize and communicate effectively with personnel. 
  • Capable of managing multiple competing priorities and meeting deadlines. 
  • A strong writer and presenter.
