Renewable Energy and Biodiversity Program Intern

Join us in this role where you’ll work closely with our permitting, biological, development, compliance, and stakeholder teams to assess biodiversity programs, monitoring, and metrics in the US and prepare reports to support our net-positive biodiversity ambition.

Welcome to Permitting, Environmental & Marine Affairs
You’ll be part of the Strategic Permitting team where you, together with your colleagues, will help drive permitting success, identifying potential environmental and social risks and finding inventive solutions to ensure our green energy projects are both commercially viable and have a positive impact on surrounding communities and biodiversity. You’ll collaborate with internal colleagues in various departments as well as external environmental stakeholders to achieve success. As a team, we take a science-based approach to ensuring that we advance renewable energy projects that avoid, minimize, and mitigate impacts to the environment and biodiversity. Our team works collaboratively with industry groups, eNGOs, and internal wildlife and project development experts to ensure a proactive approach.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • tracking renewable energy industry biodiversity programs
  • mapping stakeholders at key environmental non-governmental organizations
  • compiling potential biodiversity metrics from scientific literature, incl. their benefits and limitations
  • assessing the role of existing renewable energy monitoring programs in informing biodiversity impacts
  • gathering and synthesizing feedback from internal colleagues on documents developed by biodiversity team
  • tracking the latest innovations in biodiversity monitoring.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a strong technical background and are comfortable reading reports and scientific papers, with the ability to digest large amounts of information quickly
  • are organized and rigorous to ensure all work is done correctly and able to lead tasks on your own
  • plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • communicate effectively with both your stakeholders and colleagues, sharing information that people want to know and giving appropriate context and details when speaking
  • make skillful use of internal and external resources to deliver efficient, high-quality work
  • have a high degree of proficiency with MS Office suite, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
