Accounting Intern

Job Description: Accounting Intern

VX Media LLC has a position available for an Accounting Intern in New York. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the accounting field, working 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn. This is a 3-month internship, with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time employment position upon successful completion.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Record and reconcile invoices for Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain unapproved AP, unbilled AP, and AP-related reports.
  • Prepare and manage invoices for Accounts Receivable.
  • Assist with employee expense reimbursement.

2. Financial Data Management:

  • Assist in financial data entry, analysis, and reporting.
  • Conduct general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and identify and correct errors.
  • Compile and record journal entries accurately, adhering to accounting standards and company guidelines.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

3. Month-End Close Process:

  • Aid in the month-end close process by preparing schedules and assisting with financial reporting.

4. Documentation and Compliance:

  • Gather, organize, analyze, and summarize documentation as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company policies and procedures.

5. Administrative Support:

  • Assist in office administrative jobs assigned.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance department as required.

6. Departmental Support:

  • Support day-to-day responsibilities in the accounting department.
  • Take ownership of assigned daily/weekly tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects as needed.

7. Professional Development:

  • Attend trainings and speaking engagements led by company leaders across various departments.

8. Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the accounting team, assisting in day-to-day financial operations and contributing to strategic financial initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

9. Expense Management:

  • Track and reconcile bank transactions.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings.

10. Data Accuracy and Reporting:

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all financial reports.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as required by management.

 

Qualifications

1. Education:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong academic record, particularly in accounting and finance courses.

2. Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Basic understanding of accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles and financial reporting.

3. Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies.

4. Attention to Detail:

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of quality and precision in all work.
