As an intern in Theatrical Distribution, you will have a significant role in supporting our team with the daily operations of distributing films to theaters globally, working closely with the Theatrical Sales and Distribution team. In the role, you will assist with coordinating logistical aspects of film distribution, such as managing shipping timelines, tracking film prints, and ensuring timely delivery to theaters. Additionally, you will help analyze box office data and assist with financial reporting related to film distribution.

As an intern in Theatrical Distribution, you will have a significant role in supporting our team with the daily operations of distributing films to theaters, working closely with the Theatrical Sales and Distribution team. In the role, you will help analyze box office data and assist with financial reporting related to film distribution. You will also assist the Exhibitor Marketing team by coordinating poster shipments, collecting trailer reporting, and helping to deliver assets to movie theaters across the country.

Theatrical Distribution Intern Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on marketing and distribution strategies to gain a thorough understanding of the competitive market. Prepare presentation materials outlining successful past releases.
  • Support our distribution team by entering box office reports, handling invoicing, and keeping release calendars updated.
  • Engage in grassroots and organizational outreach activities to promote current and upcoming NEON releases.
  • Maintain a comprehensive contact database for non-theatrical sales.
  • Liaise with exhibitors to meet their in-theater marketing requirements.
  • Interns will also assist with various projects in departments such as acquisitions, marketing, and publicity, in addition to theatrical distribution.
  • Help organize special events and screenings.
  • Provide general administrative and shipping assistance.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in theatrical distribution.

Compensation

Please note the following details about this internship opportunity:

  • Our internships are paid and offer a minimum duration of 12 weeks, providing you with ample time to gain valuable experience.
  • As a valued member of our team, you will receive an hourly salary of $16.90.
  • We value your commitment to learning and growing. Therefore, we prefer candidates who can commit to being available 2-3 full days a week for the entire internship term, working on a part-time basis approximately 16-24 hours per week. You will have the flexibility to choose your schedule so you can easily fit it into your school calendar.
  • Your internship will primarily take place at our New York office, offering you a vibrant work environment in our Soho office.
  • Please note that you will be responsible for arranging your own housing and reliable transportation in the New York area.

Requirements

To be eligible for this internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (Spring/Fall) prior to participation in the internship program, or currently participating in a NEON Internship.

  • Should demonstrate enthusiasm and maintain a positive attitude
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite (especially Excel), G Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets), and Zoom conference software
  • Should possess a highly collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated and flexible
  • Should have cultural literacy, research skills, and familiarity with social media platforms and creators
  • Knowledge of current film trends and industry news is desirable
  • Must be able to learn new concepts quickly and implement effective solutions
  • Excellent communication and analytical writing skills are also essential
  • Prior internship or working experience in the TV/Film production industry would be a plus.
