What I wish was different
I was specifically hired in to work with the launch of some new vehicles within stamping operations. Unfortunately the timeline of said launch was pushed back, outside of the 6-month term that I was there for. This led to me searching for things to do on 80% of the days, often not able to find something engaging. I was able to assume roles of various coworkers during their absence for a day or two here and there, which I truly enjoyed. I do not blame anyone for the project I was brought in to work on getting delayed, I just wish there was SOMETHING else for me to spend my time on.
Also, the group leader position is not engineering. It's most often a middle management position working with hourly workers in a union. There tended to be a consistent "us versus them" mentality between the hourly and management. Just be mentally prepared for that.
